Please understand that the trek to Tangier will be serious; we will be in one of the widest parts of the southern Chesapeake and should be prepared for any conditions, with little chance of making quick landfall. We should all commit to sailing all night and "hot bunking" it, meaning setting up two crew members sailing and sleeping in shifts (details later).
I have complete faith that the 2006 crew can do it.
Once we get to Tangier, we'll celebrate with a couple of hotel rooms, showers and champagne, on me.
After Tangier, the Bay is wide open, gentlemen. On the below map, I've proposed heading to Smith Island, which is a short trip north, and similar in geography to Tangier. After that, perhaps to Hoopersville and then back to Solomons, but who knows. As always, this is not set in stone. I'd like your thoughts.
Cheers,
Your Captain

I think that this is a great an challenging route. I am all for it as this is an area we have been trying to get to for a long time.
I might be off on the number of nautical miles, but you can get the idea. I had to re-work this map pretty hard from the original which I found on the Nat Geo website
NO SLEEP . . . TILL NORFOLK!!
Hotel? Champagne? Tangier is dry and I doubt there are any hotels. I'll look into it, though.
Remember that this trip is about Sailing not pissing on the First Mates head!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry, but pissing on people's heads is a ritual now. We can't go against tradition, now can we... but this year, it's Jason's turn.
Jase, I think there are some B&Bs on the island. Let me know. We'll bring our own champagne, and as captain, I'm treating everyone to rooms on Tangier for one night.
Cheers,
Your Captain
Sounds awesome . . . except for the pissing part. That part sucks.
I will make sure to not break the Seal all day when the time comes. And a B&B Sounds good to me as well.
Hard Work
