There's a recent article about the Chesapeake Bay in the London Independent. I love this part:

Phillips should be boycotted as they use the Asian blue swimmer crabs, and not the blue crabs from the Americas. Chesapeake Blue Crab is the same as the Blue Crab, just from the Chesapeake. Blue Swimmer Crabs are from Japan and are cheap. Similar to ours but apparently not as tasty. Phillips buys them and therefore undercuts the watermen of the Chesapeake. The restaurant chain is responsible for some of the depression of the Eastern Shore.
I've also heard that this year is supposed to be good for crabs in the Bay. The thing about Phillips is that most people only eat the Alaskan King Crab and skip over those Swimmer Crabs. They're just not eaten in the same way. But yea, there's nothing like the Bay crab.
Wow it looks a lot like the Chesapeake version.
