For 2007, Let's go with the wind.

Colin, Jason and I have been taking this yearly sailing trip for four years and every route we've taken has been a hard "uphill" beat. Whether leaving dock or returning, we've --- surprisingly --- ALWAYS had the sail sheeted in tight, the boat heeled over and our course ends up being massive or short tacks to get to our destination. Call it Murphy's Law or plain statistics, but I, for one, would like to change that record.

Not that I don't enjoy a hard beat while stumbling on 45 degree decks --- salt spray over the windward rail --- but we have little to no experience handling the boat on a run, ie, wind-at-yer-back, champagne sailing.

My proposition: let's depart the dock by going with the wind as opposed to choosing our destinations ahead of time and just sailing toward them at any cost. So, for example, if the wind on the Bay looks like the above picture, we'll head south, and vice versa. Colin and I have an excellent book that describes some quality anchroages and docks, so we'll just go with the wind and choose whatever destination Mother Nature decides we should hit.

Thoughts? Suggestions?
